Matt Hardy released from WWE over the weekend

As the title explains it all.

The biggest topic in the wrestling world right now is the release of Matt Hardy. WWE finally released this guy in what seemed like forever for them to do. Matt says he deserves to be a World Champion. Well WWE doesn't think he should be. So Matt decides to complain through Twitter and Youtube videos and after months of this crap he gets his release.

Here's the thing. Matt Hardy has sucked for the last year or so. His last relevant push came in 2008 when he was the ECW Champion. His feud with Jeff was just ok. Then when he went to RAW he bombed worse and I haven't really seen him in a match for a long time. So of course TNA is gonna sign him, team him with Jeff, and put him as a Triple H rip off gimmick or something like that. Kiss your career goodbye in TNA Matt.

As for reviews I have no clue what will be next. I say one thing then do the opposite. WWE Classics has a free view so it's most likely I will be reviewing the old Nitro and Raw they have on there. Stay tuned for something very soon.

Random Stuff

Alright I figured that I should give some thought s on stuff going on in wrestling.

Raw was pretty good, plenty of good matches and not promo heavy. The Seattle shows always are done well. That brings to my next point, WWE is coming back in May for Over The Limit. I didn't attend Raw tonight due to the fact that my favorite band came to Seattle to weeks ago, but I will go to the PPV. The Last PPV we had was No Way Out 2009 and that kicked ass. So hopefully Over The Limit will be the same.

There was mixed reactions to TNA's Bound For Glory event. It aired last night, and since it was my birthday, I didn't order it. I had other things I was doing. A lot of people hated the ending of the main event. Basically "They" is NWO 2010. Now the renegade group angles are just riding a dead horse. NWO and DX were great for there time. The Nexus was good in the beginning, but lost momentum, and I really don't need to see Jeff Jarrett on my TV screen in another NWO reunion.

Speaking of TNA they are bringing JWOWW from Jersey Shore for iMPACT on thursday night. Well WWE heard this and said they won't be countering bringing another star. As WWE is considered just a wrestling company to the media. Really WWE? What about all the guest host's for the last year? They took up more time then the wrestling. RAW was unwatchable because of celebrities I don't care about. I bet JWOWW will only do a segment or two and that's it. RAW's guest host's took up a good hour of the program. Not like JWOWW is going to be the biggest draw for the company. RAW's ratings went up after they stopped with the guest host.

Well that's it for now. Hopefully I will get some sort of review up this week.

Quick Thoughts on ROH

So HDNet just expanded to the Seattle area and I finally get to see what all the hype was for this promotion. I don't really have the time to do my usual review so here are my quick thoughts.

I thought it sucked.

Yes let all the idiots come with there pitch forks. The matches were slow, uneventful, dull and to repeat it again, downright boring. I thought this was fast paced action and incredible matches that the IWC craps all over. I didn't get any of that. Oh and another thing is that the commentary was HORRENDOUS.

I'll probably watch it again to see if tonight was an off night for me. I still don't see how the all the fat wrestling nerds love it so much.

Anyways future updates will include the John Morrison disc, and the ECW set.

Ringside Reviews: WWE Night Of Champions 2010

I ordered the show last night so here we go...

Intercontinental Championship
Dolph Ziggler (C) vs Kofi Kingston
Time: 12:34
The match that should of happened at Summerslam. Great action and well paced for a decent opener. It was nice to see Dolph gain a win here. Maybe he can have a nice run as champ.
***1/4

Big Show vs CM Punk
Time: 4:45
Other then Punk's promo before the match nothing special happened. It just felt like a throw away TV match then a PPV caliber one. Much better then the mess at Summerslam.
**

United States Championship
The Miz (C) vs Daniel Bryan
Time: 12:27
This one is hands down match of the night. Awesome bout. It was paces well and action packed. It was great with all the near falls, technical wrestling, and I've begin to like Daniel Bryan. I just wish they had a little more time.
****1/4

Divas and Women's Championship Unifcation Lumberjill Match
Melina (Diva's) vs Michelle McCool (Women's)
Time: 6:31
For a diva's match this wasn't horrible but, wasn't amazing. They had a nice base and didn't need the lumberjill stipulation. Don't get me wrong I liked seeing the diva's but, there were a few botches on their part.
**

World Heavyweight Championship No Holds Barred
Kane (C) vs Undertaker
Time: 18:24
Some say this went on way too long. I didn't really think so as I was interested the whole time. What we got was a nice brawl. This may not be like their earlier matches but, it's worth taking a look at. I was really glad that Kane got the win here. He needed it.
***1/2

WWE Tag Team Championship Tag Team Turmoil Gauntlet
Hart Dynasty (C) vs the Uso's vs Vladimir Kozlov/Santino Marella vs Mark Henry/Evan Bourne vs Cody Rhodes/Drew McIntyre
Time: 11:39
You could tell this was a throw away. No proper build and the WWE tag division is a joke. Anyways why put a tag title on Cody Rhodes when he is building himself up to be a singles star? I don't get it.
**

WWE Championship Six Pack Challenge
Sheamus (C) vs John Cena vs Randy Orton vs Edge vs Chris Jericho vs Wade Barrett
Time: 21:23
As for a six pack challenge this was great. I liked the fact it was elimination. I didn't really care for Randy Orton's win. I know he's the hottest thing in wrestling but, the constant belt switching needs to end. Then Sheamus looks bad, because he never gets a clean win as champion.
****

Overall: 7/10
This one had some minor problems with some match quality. Other then that there was some solid stuff. I would recommend checking out the US title bout.

Ringside Reviews: Triple H: The King Of Kings Disc 2

Here we are with the second and final disc of Triple H. I still don't understand why he just got two discs...

The Return of Shawn: Talks about stamp collecting, what else?

World Heavyweight Championship 2/3 Falls (Armageddon 12/15/02)
Triple H vs Shawn Michaels (C)
Time: 38:32
I've heard about this match but, never saw it until I got the set. Not many are big on it. To me I can't really get past the street fight. They go full tilt, the cage part is just ok, and the ladder part is nothing really special. By the time it was done I was kinda worn out.
***

The Rise of Batista: Evolution got over as a group but, Batista was starting to break out on his own. Of course Triple H credits himself for saying he put him over.

World Heavyweight Championship Hell In A Cell (Vengeance 6/26/05)
Triple H vs. Batista (C)
Time: 26:53
Whenever I watch this match I just keep thinking how awesome it is. Packed full of brutal action, it just owns. To see Batista take a barbed wire chair shot to the back and Triple H spit blood from the sledgehammer makes this worth the viewing. Great match is all that I can say.
*****

Wrestling My Idol: Talks about wrestling Ric Flair.

Last Man Standing (Survivor Series 11/27/05)
Triple H vs Ric Flair
Time: 27:00
After 96 is when I like Ric Flairs stuff. This match proves that he was having classics all over the place in the 2000's. To say it it short, this match is a war. Great spots and they hit big move after big move. I actually marked out when Triple H went through the table. Thankfully I was alone.
*****

The Next Generation: Cena came up to Triple H and asked him what he thought of their match. He told Cena he sucked and showed him all of his classic matches from 2003. Well he didn't do that, just another thing I wish that happened. Cena then promised he would improve and the rest is history.

WWE Championship (Backlash 4/30/06)
Triple H vs John Cena (C), vs Edge
Time: 17:33
I usually have a problem with triple threats becoming handicap matches. This one doesn't go that route which is great. This match was action packed and well paced. They went out there and tore the house down and didn't let up. It's one of the better triple threats I've seen in a long time.
****1/2

Extra's

Hog Pen Match (In Your House 12/17/95)
Triple H vs Henry O Godwinn
Time: 9:06
This one bad, but just good to view for nostalgic reasons.
*

Terra Ryzing vs Flying Tony Roy (11/1/92)
Time: 10:48
Triple H's first ever match. Nothing really exciting or memorable to talk about.
*1/2

Overall: 10/10
Man did this disc own. You get two five star, one over four stars, and just one mediocre match. Yeah Triple H may of sucked for awhile there but, matches like those on this DVD show the best of him. If only they had that third disc...

Ringside Reviews: Triple H: The King Of Kings Disc 1

Alright I know I said that I was going to review like 10 other DVD's but, this one is official.

Triple H, King Of Kings, The Game, Cerebral Assassin, you get the picture. He's been with WWE for a good 15 years or so. His career took off with the Snob gimmick to DX and then The Game. Where he was at his best. Then one fateful night in 2001 he tore his quad.

2002 came along and he had some decent matches then started to suck. The World Heavyweight championship was handed to him. 2003 rolled along and he got fatter, had a bob haircut, wore different color trunks, and sucked even worse. This would go onto Wrestlemania 21 when Batista beat him and he started to have some good matches again.

Let's now get to the career of Triple H.

Getting Started: Talks about how he got started in the business. He was at a gym and met some wrestlers there. He got Killer Kowalski's number and the rest is history.

Triple H vs John Crystal (Raw 5/22/95)
Time: 3:09
Just a squash to make Triple H look good. What's weird is that Triple H beats him with the Diamond Cutter.
*

Pressure-It's All On You & The Work Horse Title: He talks about the pressure being in the WWE. He then praises the IC title saying those were the best matches while Hogan posed for four minutes. Funny thing is he disses Marc Mero by saying he told him how to be a ring general.

Intercontinental Championship (Raw 10/21/96)
Triple H vs Marc Mero (C)
Time: 6:40
This was the first of 25,000 title wins Triple H will have in his career. The match itself is pretty slow and boring.
*1/2

Chyna, Curtain Call & The Crown: Here he talks about how he wanted Chyna to be his bodyguard but, Vince said no. He ended up getting her anyway. Then he gets in trouble for the curtain call and loses out being King Of The Ring in 96 but, won it 97. Finally he talks about the crown and how much he hated it and broke everytime they got him a new one.

Triple H vs Mankind (King Of The Ring 6/8/97)
Time: 19:25
I wasn't expecting much with this match. Boy was I wrong, it's a great match. It's well paced, action packed, and exciting. Sure it isn't like their later matches but, it's a hidden gem.
****

The Transformation-The Amplified Version: Here Triple H talks about ditching the Snob gimmick and being himself. This all leading to DX.

European Championship (Wrestlemania XIV 3/29/98)
Triple H (C) vs Owen Hart
Time: 11:29
Man did this match rock. The only problem is that it should of went longer and I wish Chyna wasn't involved. It was great paced and action packed. Man I miss Owen.
***1/2

Elevating The Game: Became the leader of DX when Shawn left and had a good time. He wanted to leave it and get to the next level. Some wondered why he would do that when DX had a lot of miles left.

WWE Championship (Raw 8/23/99)
Triple H vs Mankind (C)
Time: 8:42
Rumor was that Stone Cold didn't want to drop the title to Hunter because he "wasn't at his level". So they had this. Not a bad match but, seen it once, don't need to see it again.
**3/4

Being At The Top: Talks about being the number one guy.

WWE Championship (No Mercy 10/17/99)
Triple H (C) vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
Time: 21:54
When I first saw this I didn't really care for it. Saw it again I really liked it. Great brawling, and some decent wrestling mixed in. These two can put on some really good bouts.
****1/4

McMahon-Helmsley Era: Talks about his "marriage" to Stephanie and wanting to make Mick look good for his last match.

Hell In A Cell (No Way Out 2/27/00)
Triple H (C) vs Cactus Jack
Time: 23:57
Awesome match. It's hard for me to decide if this or the Street Fight is the better match. Anyway's incredible spots, packed full of action and a good way to end Foley's career in order to heal up. It just amazes me when Foley get's up after going through the roof and continues fighting.
*****

Injury & Return: Here he talks about tearing the quad and wanting to come back worse then ever and drag a ton of people and the business down to hell with him...Wait he didn't say that, I just wish he did.

Royal Rumble match (Royal Rumble 1/20/02)
Just begins with Triple H coming in at #22. Kind of wish they had the full match.
N/A

Overall: 8/10

Some solid stuff on here. It's worth to take a look at. There are some of his very best matches like the Street Fight are not on here but, on other DVD's. Hey it's always good to mix it up a bit.

Ringside Reviews: Summerslam 2010

Here we are, another Summerslam come and gone. My third for this site. So since I ordered it here is my two cents.

Intercontinental Championship
Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler (C)
Time: 7:05
This was getting somewhere but, Nexus cam in and beat the crap out of them. Before that they had a nice base and should of had a clean finish.
**1/2

Divas Championship
Melina vs Alicia Fox (C)
Time: 5:20
Bad match, really dead crowd. Didn't help that they had so many stalls in this one.
*

The Big Show vs CM Punk, Joey Mercury, Luke Gallows.
Time: 6:45
Ugh matches like this one piss me off. CM Punk deserves so much better then this. So does Big Show, both are over and needed something better.
*

WWE Championship
Randy Orton vs Sheamus (C)
Time: 18:55
This was almost there until the ending. Sheamus needed a clean win here. His feud with HHH brought the best in him and he needs it now. Other then that pretty exciting match.
***1/2

World Heavyweight Championship
Kane (C) vs Rey Mysterio
Time: 13:31
Meh this one was alright. The whole match seemed like it should of had more to it. It felt kind of empty. The casket part was predictable and Undertaker looked bad. Hey the storyline can progress now.
**3/4

7 on 7 Elimination Tag Team Match
The Nexus vs Team Raw
Time: 35: 18
Just a basic wrestling match that was pretty good for a big tag match. The return of Daniel Bryan was a nice surprise. Heck even Bret Hart tore it up (just look at what he was doing before). I thought Justin Gabriel looked great for the Nexus. The final part is why are people complaining about Cena when he got the crap kicked out of him and wasn't in the match until the end?
***

Overall: 4/10
This was such a let down. There was nothing to hit home about. Some of the match quality was pretty bad. Seen it once won't see it again. This is a ppv I won't fork over $20 for the dvd.

Ringside Reviews: The Undertaker's Deadliest Matches Disc 3

Finally, the third and final disc of this set. Man I've gone through hell and now I am back for more. Bring it!

First Blood Match (Survivor Series 11/26/06)
Undertaker vs Mr. Kennedy
Time: 9:20
Ah damn it I was looking forward to this and it fell flat. All we see is Taker beat up Kennedy through the match and MVP comes out and hits Taker with a chair and Taker bleeds all over the place. The post match beat downs where great and should of been in the match. Taker hits Kennedy with a sweet chair shot to.
**3/4

Last Ride Match (Armageddon 12/17/06)
Undertaker vs Mr. Kennedy
Time: 15:55
This was another match that I heard was pretty solid. Well I'm sorry, but this match sucks. It's dull and to repeat myself, it's downright boring. Other then Taker getting thrown off the castle structure nothing really cool happens.
**

Last Man Standing Match for the World Heavyweight Championship (Backlash 4/29/07)
Undertaker (C) vs Batista
Time: 20:26
Man do I love last man standing matches. Other then the Khali vs Taker one there really isn't a bad one. The brawling is awesome and they hit big move after big move. I was actually on the edge of my seat and yelled out "This match is incredible!"
*****

Smackdown 1/25/08
Undertaker vs Big Daddy V
Time: 6:11
Oh my god. Do I really need to review this? This was bad as you would think.
BOMB

Hell In A Cell (Summerslam 8/17/08)
Undertaker vs Edge
Time: 26:41
I already reviewed this one in my Summerslam 2008 post. Anyways awesome match.
*****

Steel Cage (Smackdown 12/5/08)
Undertaker vs Big Show
Time: 12:40
Here it is, the best Big Show and Undertaker match. This was their best match out of a crappy feud from 2008. There is some decent spots and was a decent match. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
***

Overall 6/10
Just get this set for nostalgic reasons. That's what I did. Many have said this should of been called Undertaker's Crappiest Matches. They do have a point but, there are some decent matches on here. My advice is just get the show dvd's from where the good ppv matches were on.

Some Various Thoughts

Alright it's time for some more various thoughts.

Smackdown had another good show last night. I personally think that Smackdown is the better show of the two. Or if you want to watch the big names watch Raw. Wanna watch the developing guys watch Smackdown.

TNA's HardCORE Justice is this Sunday. To me it's just another ECW reunion excuse. Man all this ECW stuff is just like a high school reunion. ECW was great when it was around, the One Night Stand ppv's (first two) were good, and finally just put it to rest. Half of these people don't even wrestle on tv anymore.

I'm actually going to watch Impact this next week. The show basically is the original card for Hard Justice. There ratings are back up to where they were before the Monday night disaster. I predict a 2.0 rating for the Impact special. I'll probably start watching Impact to compare the shows and I've heard that the show is getting better by the week.

Still to come: The third Undertaker disc, Summerslam 2010 (Im ordering the ppv), a review of the Rise and Fall of WCW dvd, and we will see what goes on from there.

Ringside Reviews: The Undertaker's Deadliest Matches Disc 2

It's disc 2 time folks! As you all know disc one was a chore. Is it me or do I just have to go through hell before I see the light?

Raw 5/3/99
Undertaker vs Big Show
Time: 2:45
This match sucked, that is all.
*

WWE Championship (Raw 6/7/99)
Undertaker vs Big Show
Time: 6:53
This match sucked, that is all.
*

Concrete Crypt Match (Great American Bash 6/27/04)
Undertaker vs The Dudley Boyz
Time: 14:41
Ladies and gentlemen may I present to you the worst match ever. This match is the bottom of the barrel. In fact it shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with the word barrel. The five people involved in this thought this was a good idea. That's what scares me. Other then that Taker beats the Tag champs all by himself. The ending is so stupid it will never be mentioned here.
BOMB

Casket Match (Royal Rumble 1/30/05)
Undertaker vs Heidenreich
Time: 13:20
This match was bad but, it wasn't terrible like I thought it would be. Just your typical casket match with run ins. Heidenreich was not on his game here at all. The legdrop on Heidenreich while his head in the casket was pretty cool though.
**1/2

Handicap Casket Match (No Mercy 10/9/05)
Undertaker vs Randy Orton/Bob Orton Jr.
Time: 19:11
Ugh this match did nothing for me. Why couldn't it just be Randy vs Taker? Seriously Cowboy Bob brings the match down a whole level. Then we get to see Undertaker get killed off for the 9,000th time. PASS.
**

Hell In A Cell (Armageddon 12/18/05)
Undertaker vs Randy Orton
Time: 30:32
This match is incredible. When people talk about Hell in a Cell matches this one is never mentioned. It's underrated when it comes to that. They use the cage as a weapon and have solid wrestling action all in one. This match so far is the lone match on this DVD that was a great match.
****1/4

Last Man Standing (Smackdown 8/18/06)
Undertaker vs The Great Khali
Time: 16:11
My god this was so bad that I have to call the local authorities because it ranks as a crime.
BOMB

Overall: 4/10
God damn was this disc terrible. The only match that I recommend is the Hell in a Cell. This shows that the mid 2000's were just like the mid 1990's for the Taker. When matched up with someone good you get a decent Undertaker match. If he faces someone crappy you get a crappy match

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Some Various Thoughts

Well I should have the 2nd Undertaker disc up by the end of the week or early next week. Man that DVD is a chore with bad match after bad match. Eventually I will make through it as disc 3 has some promise to it.

Well it looks like Samoa Joe is currently serving a suspension. The report was that he yelled at the production crew for giving him and Jeff Hardy cues on when the match was suppose to end. Well to me there has to be more then that. Just look at Joe's career so far with the company. He had some great matches while in the X Division. Then he started to job to Angle, finally won the belt after waiting what seemed like a century and people didn't seem to care, and finally that whole stupid Main Event Mafia storyline that he was involved in. Now my question is why hasn't he asked for a release and go to WWE? I would love to see feuds with Punk, Mysterio, Christian, Kofi, basically he would be a perfect fit on Smackdown.

Raw was actually good this week. Tons a matches and not too promo heavy like they have been. I've been watching Smackdown and they have been putting on some good stuff lately. I'm looking forward to Summerslam also, should be good.

Ringside Reviews: The Undertaker's Deadliest Matches Disc 1

To me watching wrestling while growing up, Undertaker was the man. He has been in some incredible stuff, but is brought down with a ton of crap along the way. I bought this dvd to watch the old matches again. People have told me that I would suffer while watching this set. Let's see if they are right.

Body Bag Match (7/11/91)
Undertaker vs Ultimate Warrior
Time: 9:30
This certainly isn't a bad match and has a decent amount of action in it. I have to admit though there is tons of no selling by both of them. Other then that it takes Warrior forever to try and get Undertaker in the body bag.
**3/4

Casket Match (Survivor Series 11/24/92)
Undertaker vs Kamala
Time: 7:05
This may of been the first ever casket match. At first you have to pin the guy and then put them in the casket. Anyways typical casket match with Kamala scared of the Undertaker like everyone else. Pass.
**

Casket Match (Summerslam 8/27/95)
Undertaker vs Kama
Time: 16:22
Ugh this wasn't that great at all. It was slow and not much going on. This may of been the 20,000th time someone stole the urn from the Undertaker.
*1/2

Casket Match (In Your House 12/17/95)
Undertaker vs King Mabel
Time: 6:12
Ugh this is becoming a chore man. Now I know how Austen felt when he watched disc 2 of the Kane dvd. Anyways, crap match, NEXT.
1/2 *

King Of The Ring 6/23/96
Undertaker vs Mankind
Time:18:19
Ah the Taker Mankind feud has had some great moments. This must of been one of the first encounters that they had. It started off slow, but got a little bit better as it went on. I love how Mick is practically psychotic as Mankind.
***

Boiler Room Brawl (Summerslam 8/18/96)
Undertaker vs Mankind
Time: 26:27
As we all know Mick is the king of hardcore and this is no exception. I actually dug this match. They use their surroundings well and there were decent spots. It was kinda weird that in order to win the match they had to go back to the ring and get the urn from Paul Bearer. Hey at least Bearer turned on Taker.
***1/2

Buried Alive Match (Rock Bottom 12/13/98)
Undertaker vs Stone Cold Steve Austin
Time: 21:29
This match was decent at best and wasn't as great I thought of it when I saw it when it first aired. The build up was great with the shovel shots, but the match was a bit of underwhelming. The brawling is mediocre, and the ending was so stupid I won't even mention it.
**1/2

Inferno Match (Raw 2/22/99)
Undertaker vs Kane
Time: 6:50
Here is the second inferno match between the two. It's shorter then the last one and just isn't that great. On paper this seems like a cool gimmick, but really it's underwhelming. It's obvious Kane is wearing protection and you have some stupid teddy bear thing that I don't even want to get into. Enough said.
**1/4

Overall: 5/10
The casket matches where great to see again as it reminded me of watching wrestling back in the 90's. Other then that this disc was pretty bad, other then the Mankind matches. I guess so far I am suffering...

Ringside Reviews: Wrestlemania 25

April 5, 2009
Reliant Stadium
Houston, Texas
In 2009 Wrestlemania was considered a dissapointment. When I first saw it, I was kinda let down on it. Then I watched it again. The card may not be the best in Wrestlemania, but I think that people should give this one another look. This one is underrated.

Money In The Bank
CM Punk vs Kane vs MVP vs Finlay vs Mark Henry vs Shelton Benjamin vs Kofi Kingston vs Christian
Time: 14:24
This one is a decent money in the bank. It has some pretty cool spots and it wasnt that much of a botch fest when I first saw it. From the comedic spots to the solid action, this was a great opener.
***3/4

25 Diva Battle Royal
Time: 5:57
The live broadcast had a horrible Kid Rock concert. The DVD didn't. Well it still sucked altogether. Didn't know what was going on and it would be nice to have proper entrances for the former Divas.
BOMB

3On 1 Handicapped Match
Chris Jericho vs Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, Ricky Steamboat (with Ric Flair in their corner)
Time: 8:23
Could they have picked THE WORST legends? Piper can hardly move and Snuka was a joke. I loved his golf clap tap out. Steamboat though tore it up in the end. His work with Jericho saved the rest of the match. The thing with Mickey Rourke was kinda lame though.
**1/2

Exteme Rules
Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy
Time: 13:13
A pretty good hardcore match. Along with that there was some good wrestling. Even though Im not a Jeff Hardy fan he held up his own in this one. The spash through the two tables was pretty sick and the ending was the same.
****

Intercontinental Championship
Rey Mysterio vs JBL (C)
Time: 0:21
I was excited with the fact that the IC title was being defended at Mania for the first time in years. Well we get this squash. Is it just me or did Mysterio looked more like Dink then the Joker? Anyways the only good part is that this was JBL's last match.
N/A

Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels
Time: 30:41
Now this was hands down the match of the night. These two can create a great story in the ring. To me the wrestling was great, and it lived up to the hype. Whenever these two have a match together they steal the show.
*****

World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena vs Big Show vs Edge (C)
Time: 14:21
As far a triple threats go, this one was true to the name. I usually hate it when they become handicap matches, but this one stayed away from that. You get solid action from Cena and Edge while Big Show is just there to enhance the match. It is predictable though. Cena wins of course.
****1/4

WWE Championship
Triple H (C) vs Randy Orton
Great hype in this fued led to a THATS IT?! moment. How the heck is Triple H gonna get revenge on Orton if he loses the belt from DQ or countout. It would be better if it was a no DQ match. It wouldn't have to be hardcore, but hust enough for Triple H to get revenge. Their 08 fued was hundred times better then this.

Overall: 7/10
To me watching this for the second time made me warm up to it. I suggest you watch it again and you may change your mind or not. You have the MITB, Hardy match, Taker/HBK, and the triple threat. If the main event was better, then this Mania would be even better then what I thought of it.

Ringside Reviews: Summerslam 2008

August 17, 2008
Conseco Fieldhouse
Indianapolis, Indiana
As the reviews go, I just go from the left side of the shelf to the right. It just so happens that this Summerslam was next to Summerslam 2008. The last Summerslam that I watched (2003) was a sleeper hit for me. Will this one be the same?
Jeff Hardy vs MVP
Time 19:12
Ugh this match did nothing for me. Im not an MVP fan at all and I perfer Hardy's stuff from 2000-about 2002. Anyways this match had some solid spots here and there, but it just seemed empty. With the two wrestlers involved in this match, I thought they could do way better.
**3/4
Intercontinental/Womens Championship (Mixed Tag)
Glamarella vs Kofi Kingston/Mickie James (C)
Time: 5:40
This one was ok and there really isnt much to say. There was some solid wrestling between Kofi and Santino. Mickie and Beth did a decent job in the ring together.
**1/4
ECW Championship
Mark Henry (C) vs Matt Hardy
Time: 0:33
Well can't say anything about this one. Starts off and ends in a DQ.
N/A
World Heavyweight Championship
JBL vs CM Punk (C)
Time: 11:12
This one wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. Some solid wrestling action goes through the whole match. JBL actually does a good job as being somewhat of a monster heel against an underdog Punk. Punk takes a nasty hit to the head in this match, call it good.
***
WWE Championship
The Great Khali vs Triple H (C)
Time: 9:18
Oh my god, this one was terrible. What can you expect though? Triple H is one of the best and Khali is one of the worst. This may be one of Khali's better matches, but thats not saying anything.
*1/2
Batista vs John Cena
Time: 13:41
This is an awesome power match. When it comes to step it up Cena delivers big time. Batista can be a hit and miss, but in this match he was on his game. Both go back and forth through out the match. This is the match that both of them got hurt in, Cena had a back injury from the powerbomb and Batista tore his hamstring.
****
Hell In A Cell
Edge vs The Undertaker
Time: 26:43
Hands down match of the night. Hell in a Cell is really hard to mess up. This one was pretty much flawless when it comes to being in a Hell in a Cell match. The spots are awesome and both of them put on a great show. This one ranks in the top ten best matches.
*****
Overall: 5/10
This one had a ton of crap in it. It wasn't like Summerslam 2003 that had me suprised after watching it. Just watch the Batista/Cena, Hell In A Cell, and maybe check out Punk/JBL. Forget the rest.

Ringside Reviews: Summeslam 2003

August 24, 2003
American West Arena
Phoenix, Arizona
We all know that Summerslam is the Wrestlemania of the summer. WWE calls it the biggest blockbuster of the summer. There are times when a major ppv busts though. Will this be the blockbuster that WWE says it is, or a bust?
World Tag Team Championship
Dudley Boyz vs La Resistance (C)
Time: 7:49
Nothing really special here. The pace of the match was pretty good for the opening bout though. It had some decent action, but the ending was the typical interference to help the champions.
**1/2
Undertaker vs A-Train
Time: 9:19
We all know how bad Biker-Taker was. Just going around and beating the crap out of opponets. Well guess what this match is? Taker beating up A-Train throughout 90% of the match. Hey the plus is that Sable and Stephanie McMahon duke it out at the end.
**
Shane McMahon vs Eric Bischoff
Time: 10:36
Oh god, matches like this one piss me off. Its a big mess and of course Stone Cold comes out and stunners everyone in site.
*
United States Championship
Chris Benoit vs Rhyno vs Tajiri vs Eddie Guerrero (C)
Time: 10:50
I liked this one. There was alot of action as a fatal fourway should be. This one ended in classic Eddie style by cheating by using the belt and capitalizing on the sitiuation. Matches like these tend to be hidden gems.
***1/4
WWE Championship
Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle (C)
Time: 21:17
I loved this match. There is a ton of action packed into it just like there Wrestlemania match. It has a bit of everything from a little brawling to technical wrestling. In my opinion this one is the match of the night. The only problem was Vince getting in there and doing some interference.
****3/4
No Holds Barred
Kane vs Rob Van Damn
Time: 12:49
A pretty decent brawl between these two. With these two Kane can be good in a hardcore sitiuation, and RVD well, we know where he came from. They used the weapons well for a no holds barred match. Wish they could've had a bit more time. It seemed a little rushed.
***
Elimination Chamber (World Heavyweight Championship)
Goldberg vs Chris Jericho vs Kevin Nash vs Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton vs Triple H (C)
Time: 19:12
I love Elimination Chamber matches. It is hard to mess them up. A great match with a decent selection of wrestlers. Other then Triple H who was at his WORST part of his career. I know the guy was hurt, but he just sucked in this match. Goldberg did a great job just taking everyone out. Which isnt a suprise since thats all he does.

Overall: 7/10
This one started off slow but slowly got better as the ppv went on. Even though this is not the greatest Suumerslam, but it is kind of a hidden gem in that line of ppvs. Just get through the first half and enjoy the main event matches.

Random News

So this is my first blog of my new wrestling site. Sure ill cover ppvs, shows (both local and national), DVDs, requests, you get the point.

So I thought Ill just start off with some random news/thoughts.

Chis Jericho's DVD is coming out in September. At first I heard it was all matches. Pretty cool, Im still gonna get it. Then I read there will be a documentary. That bumps up the value ten more times.

TNA iMPACT! got another .9 rating this week. Wow even moving back to Thursdays hasn't even helped. They have alot of work to be able to get to atleast Smackdown's ratings. I could go on, but maybe later.

It looks like Youtube and WWE have reached a deal for them to upload NXT, Superstars, and Smackdown. It's great for me since I never really watch those shows on the nights they air.

Well I should be getting WWE Classics soon. That will be great since I wont have to order ppvs just have to wait a few months then Ill be able to watch them. Anyways I should have a review of Summerslam 2003 soon, and then go on with my collection from there.
